7th May 2005 President's Match |
East Peckham & Capel 34 - President’s XV 19
The Villagers brought the curtain down on a difficult season in some style at Putlands on Saturday in a match that saw eight tries and no penalty shots at goal; the game was nevertheless keenly contested.

Shepherd Neame Mid Kent and East Sussex merit table A
Aylesford III 15 East Peckham & Capel 29
Victory in this final merit table match made no difference to either side, so there was only pride to play for and as ever against these two local rivals, there was pride aplenty in a match full of tries, incident and passion.
Aylesford’s superior organisation and home advantage led the neutral observer to conclude that they would run out winners, but it was the Villagers who ran up a first half lead of 15 points with the wind at their tails and superiority in the number of travelling supporters.

Jubilee Cup
East Peckham & Capel 14 Edenbridge 57
Edenbridge retained the Jubilee trophy in emphatic fashion at Putlands on Saturday in a storming first half performance and early blitzkrieg to which the Villagers had no answer. Both clubs were formed in Silver Jubilee year 1977, so on the occasion of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, it happened to be the clubs’ silver anniversary and so the cup was organised to be competed for every Easter. Up until now, the cup has gone with home advantage and perhaps Peckham were too complacent as their visitors were better prepared and hungrier as the early exchanges showed.

Sevenoaks A xv 12 - East Peckham 0
Firstly I would like to thank all those who turned up on Saturday for the game against Sevenoaks.
This was probably one of the gutsiest performances East Peckham have displayed in a long time. Not only did we battle against a very strong Sevenoaks side but also against the elements which made for a very difficult game.
I would also like to thank Nick and Tublet. Not only did they have to play 80 minutes on Saturday to make up the squad but also played like demons. The score in no way reflected the game. To shut the doors completely in the second half was nothing short of outstanding after Sevenoaks camped in our half for the best part of 40 minutes and produced wave after wave of attacking play.
Well done guys, a loss yes, a bad performance - not by a long way. Lets keep up that spirit we showed on Saturday and carry that into the rest the season.
Regards
Walks
