East Peckham & Capel 0 President’s XV 42 The Villagers ended their worst ever season in predictable style as the President’s men were comprised of many former experienced players who have moved to larger clubs whilst the home team remain largely inexperienced. Nevertheless the match was open, festive and played in exactly the right spirit.

Jubilee Cup Edenbridge 52 East Peckham & Capel 7 The Villagers had one chance of salvaging something from their season horribilis, but failed fairly miserably in the wind and rain at Edenbridge. From the start, the visitors appeared to eschew the chance to seize the initiative as the home pack seemed a little daunted by the visiting forwards and settled nervously.

Whitstable III 10 East Peckham & Capel 5 East Peckham came as close as can be to winning their first game with their new blood away to the Oystermen on Saturday. Conditions were good but the surface was very hard with a slope and the wind to contend with in the first half, the Villagers defended stoutly.

Edenbridge II 20 East Peckham & Capel 5 The Villagers flattered rather to deceive in this friendly away on a windswept pitch in otherwise good conditions. The game plan was to keep the ball tight, marshal the defence and dispense with any wayward or long passes, having a care the while for kicks out of hand.

East Peckham & Capel 12 Gravesend Moles 14

The Villagers ever so nearly recorded their first win of the season on Saturday in an entertaining match that saw nearly fifty players enjoy the experience. The Moles are a social side of dads and lads whose strength varies from week to week but on this occasion they brought two full sides and caused a need for extra changing facilities at Putlands. Since the home side had the rare luxury of six reserves, referee Chris Lawrence had his work cut out managing the rolling substitutions alone.
